Really good – some concerns though. \r\n\r\nI have previously used pocket holes for preassembling door trim and already own another Kreg pocket hole jig. This one should fit well for someone who plans on a lot of pocket hole work or expects projects with a lot of different sized stock. \r\n\r\nWhat’s Good? \r\n1. The automatic clamp works quite well. The clamping surface is large and I found it worked well and held the wood well with all sample pieces I tried. It automatically adjusted for the size of the stock and also automatically aligned the drill guide exactly where it needs to be. Note, Kreg says that it works for material from ½” to 1 ½”. Most other pocket hole jigs require manual adjustment for both size and alignment. The time saving that result from this, if you often use different size stock, will be substantial. \r\n2. The unit can be mounted horizontally which will make is easier to work with longer stock and comes with a clamp for locking it to the work surface. \r\n3. It has a built in chip and dust extraction port with vacuum tube adapters to attach it to a shop-vac. \r\n4. The markings on drill bit, for stock depth, make it very easy to set the correct depth (see photo).\r\n5. Everything you need, unless you need lots of different screws, can be stored on the jig or in the storage cases/material support wings. \r\n6. Instructions are clear and mostly focus on jig setup. Kreg and others have lots of videos online for using pocket hole joinery. \r\n\r\nAdvice: \r\n1. I think for anyone expecting a lot of use, consider screwing the jig to a wood base with wood material support blocks to either side. If you want to use the stop gauge you may then want to find a way (double sided tape?) to fix the cases/wings down to the wood base to protect them from being knocked off.\r\n2. Check that the size works for you because it is larger than a lot of other pocket hole jigs (see photo comparing it to a milk bottle). Folded it is 9” tall, 7 ½” wide, and just a bit more than 12” deep. \r\n3. The included screws are for interior use. Buy exterior screws for projects which will be exposed to moisture. \r\n\r\nConcerns: \r\n1. The hinge points for the cases/wings are fairly thin and look like they could be easily broken. The same with clips that hold up the cases/wings to the jig for storage. \r\n2. The included length stop can be pushed sideways a bit depending on how quickly you put the stock in. So, be careful not to do that.\r\n3. 3. The material support wings and storage boxes are just slightly (about 1/32nd ) higher than 1 1/2”. If adding more material support is needed ,for larger work pieces be careful to find wood of a similar dimension. I checked some 2x4 I had lying around and it was exactly 1 ½” which means it would not be high enough to add more support. \r\n4. The lack of a case makes it more likely that the storage cases/wings could be broken off when the jig is being moved and stored. I recommend being careful with it or detaching the cases/wings and putting everything in a box. \r\n\r\nRecommendations for Improvements:\r\n1. The center point markings on clamp are nice and could be made more visible if they are painted white. \r\n2. I would feel much more comfortable with permanent metal hinges for the cases/wings or “beefier” hinges. \r\n3. A case would be worthwhile and something that I would pay extra for. I’d like to see a hard case with flat sides to make storing the jig easier.

Complete Kit Makes Pocket Holes a Snap\r\n\r\n\r\nI have never done pocket holes, but I am preparing to make a storage seat for the grandchildren's playroom. Most of the plans call for using pocket holes for assembly.\r\n\r\nThis kit comes with everything you need to create pocket holes, from the jig, the clamp to hold it to the work surface, a drill bit to create the holes, drivers for driving the square-holed screws and a set of screws to start with.\r\n\r\nIn the attached photographs, all of the parts were included with the product. The only exceptions are the drill motor, vacuum, the clamps I used to hold the test work piece while assembling it, and of course the wood.\r\n\r\nIt not only comes with a dust collector, but also an adapter so the dust collector can be used with larger hose sizes.\r\n\r\nNo assembly is actually required to use it, but if you want the work supports and other features, it assembles in just a few minutes with no tools. The instructions are extremely detailed with excellent pictures to guide you step-by-step from setup through an assembled product.\r\n\r\nThe base of the tool holds the specialized parts, such as the drill bit, measuring tool, depth adjustment wrench, and special screw driver bits. The drill bit even stores with the depth stop attached. The other parts, such as the clamp, fit inside the work support surfaces. The wings fold up against the jig for easy storage.\r\n\r\nI have owned a few Kreg products in the past. All of them have worked extremely well and have lasted a long time. This hole jig is especially well built and looks to last a lifetime.

Excellent system for creating pocket holes with ease, and perfect if you frequently make them in your projects. It's easy to set up, and feels sturdy. It has everything required to get started, and they even include 2 boxes of Kreg screws. I love the on-board storage of the tools and bits!\r\nThe jig can be mounted to a workbench for extra stability. \r\n\r\nIt’s intuitive to use, plus the manual provides good guidance for first users like me. \r\nWith no experience on these, I researched their previous Kreg jig models and I think they've made quite a few improvements on this one. This new clamping system automatically adjusts to the plank's thickness instead of requiring a measurement setting. The clamp has a strong grip and is also easily adjusted with the tension knob, and it moves smoothly. \r\nThe drill bit has measurements for the stop collar printed on it instead of having to place the bit inside of a guide. The dust collection system can be connected to either side and works really well!\r\n\r\nI initially tried to use a cordless drill to drill my pocket holes, and it struggled - so I switched to my driver and it was a smooth sailing. Not sure if the lack of power was on my drill or me! But if you have both, I'd reach for the driver.\r\nOverall, I love this jig and look forward to using it for many projects in the future. I’m impressed that Kreg has improved on already well-loved products.

Wow! This make pocket hole joinery super easy!\r\n\r\nWhen I first discovered pocket hole joinery with my first Kreg jig I thought I found the best kept secret in woodworking. Gone were dowels, and biscuits, my pocket jig sped things up considerably. I've built many different furniture projects and even used it in some remodeling construction.\r\n\r\nThe only knock I had was setup was clunky. With this new jig setup is less that a minute. And if there are several pieces you have to prepare this is perfect for repeatability. The kit comes with everything you need, hole guide, pocket bit, screws and driver bits. Setup is as simple as placing the piece in the jug and pressing the lever, and the work piece is securely held. Set the material depth on the pocket bit, it's clearly marked with typical widths, just slide the collar over the bit until you see the etched size through the hole and tighten.\r\n\r\nDrill through the hole guide and you've made a perfect pocket hole. There's even a nifty dust extractor that works great when you hook your shopvac to it.\r\n\r\nThere are a few accessories listed that you'll probably be interested in the bench clamp and dock adapter with adjustable stop arm.\r\n\r\nIf you're doing joinery the old fashioned way you really need to consider a pocket jig, and this one makes it super efficient.

If you are getting into building things with wood, this is definitely a must have tool for simple yet strong joinery of things like table legs and cabinet carcasses. As an amateur wood worker, I found joining two pieces of wood at right angles to be frustration, especially since I am not yet experienced enough at other joinery methods that create strong connections. Pocket screws are a fantastic way to do this and Kreg is the leader and master in this area. The Pocket Hole Jig pro has everything you need to make and use pocket holes and screws. The clamping jig and docking station is compact and comes with on board storage for (almost) everything: the clamp, drill bit, driver bits, depth gauge, and even screws (and the kit comes with a great starter kit of screws). The docking station (the two ‘wings’ on the sides) can be removed and be used to support longer pieces of wood. Setup and take down is a snap and it is easy to store. The bench clamp allows the jig to be securely mounted on a work bench and the jig itself can be used in either a horizontal or vertical orientation, depending on your needs. I highly recommend this; this is one of those things you didn’t know you needed until you have one.

Kreg 720 Pocket Hole Jig-PRO...

Kreg 720 Pocket Hole Jig-PRO – Kreg has made significant improvements with the 720 jig. In the past, changes with new models were mostly incremental from the previous ones. The 720 jig is much larger than older models and looks more like a professional tool, but more importantly is the automatic clamping system which securely holds any thickness workpiece up to 1-1/2” and sets the drill guide to the proper height. There is a knob to fine-tune clamping pressure, if necessary. \r\n\r\nThe basic jig has fold out wings to support wide workpieces and the PRO models come with the “docking station” supports; two plastic storage boxes that clip to the jig and foldup to the jig for storing. This could be the one weakness; the boxes and the clips seem somewhat fragile and feel they could break off. \r\n\r\nThe jig comes with a clamp for securing to a work surface or it can be screwed down. Using the clamp, the jig and be turned 90 degrees for drilling pocket holes in workpieces that are too long to stand vertically.\r\n\r\nOther improvements: older models had dust collection that worked fine, but the 720 jig dust collection works great. The 720 has onboard tool storage for the drill bit, driver bit, etc.

Kreg 720 Pocket Hole Jig\r\n\r\nI love the automatically self adjusting clamp that securely holds your boards in place. The needed accessories (drill bit, Kreg screw driver bits, Measurement and stop adjustment hex tool) all store conveniently on-board on the back panel of the jig. There are wings, folded in for storage, that flip out for stability and to help support your work piece. They lock in place for storage, but do not lock in the out position, so may be easily knocked when moving your work piece, and need to be re-straightened to support your work. I do think it is best to clamp the jig to your work bench or mount it. Mounting holes are provided on the base of the jig. The dust collection (vacuum) adapter works well. I am very happy with this new Kreg 720 pocket hole jig. I had some scrap lumber (some scrap 1x dimensional pine, and some 3/4” plywood) and I used this pocket jig to make a shelf for some cordless drills, batteries and chargers. The pocket hole jig was easy to use, and quickly helped me make a very sturdy shelf unit.

If you work with pocket holes a lot, you will want to add this setup to your tool collection. It is much faster then using the portable jig with the clamp. You can have your piece set up in no time. If you have to do a bunch of pieces with the same spacing, you can set a stop so they all line up the same.\r\n\r\nThere a couple of ways to set this jig up. You can use the included clamp to clamp it to a workbench or table. You can screw down the base with the stabilizing wings folded out, and then fold the wings back in when not in use. Or you can mount the adapters for the storage boxes and hold it down that way. There are also plans available to build it into a work center.\r\n\r\nI love the way it is designed for compace storage. The back has storage for the bits, and setup tool. The wings fold in place. The storage boxes have latches to hold then in place when folded. It is a big step up form the portable jigs!

I've been using a small Kreg pocket hole jig for several years. It produces very strong joints in cabinetry, and does so quite quickly versus traditional joinery (mortis & tenon, dados and rabbets and so on). I wouldn't use it on fine furniture, but it's great for shop furniture, quick cabinets, and the like. \r\n\r\nThis new 720 jig improves immensely over the small jig. It is arranged so that you can very quickly put new pieces of stock in for drilling--a pretty remarkable little invention that both clamps the piece securely and locates the pocket hole perfectly. I'm also really happy with the dust collection port--instead of sawdust all over my floor after a pocket hole project, this gets about 95%+ of the dust right into my dust collector. \r\n\r\nThis is a really impressive jig--well worth the investment if you find yourself regularly using pocket hole joinery.

I’ve been using Kreg pocket hole jigs for a few years now. I have the smaller jig and it’s worked very well, but I’ve always wanted one of the bigger jigs because it can get to be a hassle manually clamping the smaller jig when you have a bunch of holes to drill. This jig has all the feature I have been wanting and no doubt this will increase my efficiency in pocket hole joinery. This has it’s own clamp, automatically detects the thickness, dust control options, and on-board storage for all the accessories. Setting up and drilling the pocket holes is easy and they make it better by making it easy to create repeatable pocket holes. That was something that I did a lot of with the smaller jig but this makes it so much easier to do. Kreg jigs have been very reliable for me, and I am so happy to add this pro version to my tool set!

Up until 2 or 3 months ago I had very little experience with pocket holes in general. I'm a 58 yr old career carpenter. I first bought the 320 hand pocket hole jig to see if It was a viable solution for some fastening requirements. It was slow to position and use, though I liked the strength of the joint. I bought this 720pro for in the shop. I drilled 32 holes in various drawer assembly pieces. It's fast, and consistent for repetitive hole locations. This thing is built for speed and convenience. It's relatively sturdy but not as sturdy as a full metal build would be. But, what you give up in sturdiness is made up for by excellent design and quick setup. If this design was manufactured in 100% aluminum and steel it would cost at least triple of what this unit sells for. There are metal ones out there made by competitors but they have no where the ease of use and quick setup that this thing has. I looked at them but went with the industry standard (kreg) instead. I'm happy with this purchase.

The side stabilizers are great if you are doing a wide board, You do not have to balance board or put support under. They also serve as parts boxes and has measure marks on. Has a clamp to mount securely or you can screw down to a board. The storage on the back (see picture) puts everything you need regularly easy to reach. 2 boxes of different length screws are included to practice with right away. Very nice tool. The auto clamp works really well. There's an adjustment dial for the thickness of material. After that just clamp and go. The onboard tool storage is nice, and the dust collection is near perfect. Seriously. There's barely any dust at all left behind when hooked to my shop vac. This helps not only keep the shop clean, but also I don't have to clear dust when swapping out parts.\r\nI really couldn't be any happier with this.
