150 years ago on this day, September 6, 1870, Louisa Swain became the first woman in the world to cast a ballot in an election giving Wyoming women equal rights as men. This was enabled by the December 1869 passage of the Wyoming Suffrage Act in the first session of the Wyoming Territorial Legislature in Cheyenne.
